AVERT Autonomous Vehicle Emergency Recovery Tool
Technology is ever evolving and it keeps changing, robots are replacing human beings in various jobs. AVERT – Autonomous Vehicle Emergency Recovery Tool Project started in 2012,provides a unique capability to Police and Armed Services to rapidly deploy, extract and remove both blocking and suspect vehicles from vulnerable positions such as enclosed infrastructure spaces, tunnels, low bridges as well as under-building and underground car parks.
The vehicles can be removed from the parking lots safely and briskly to a safer disposal point to reduce or eliminate collateral damage to infrastructure and human life. Project funded by the European Union has got a all clear and is expected that AVERT could enter production in early 2016.
Terrorism all over the world leads to horrific loss of life, extensive disruption to city transport and damage to commercial real estate. AVERT can provide autonomous capabilities to remove blocked vehicles which is currently not available. It is remote controlled, self powered and has onboard sensors which enable it to operate alongside existing technologies and making handling of the bomb disposable response teams speedy and safe.
